AGRONOMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF QUINOA GENOTYPES Sci. Agrar.Paran. / SAP
Egewarth, Vanessa Aline; Vasconcelos, Edmar Soares de; Strenske, Andressa; Egewarth, Jonas Francisco; Franciscon, Hugo; Echer, Márcia de Moraes.
The consumption of quinoa is growing in the world because of its high nutritional value and genetic variability, but are still required further study on its development in Brazil. This work aimed to characterize the development of sixteen genotypes of quinoa grown in the western region of Paraná. Two experiments were conducted in the period September to December 2014 and October 2014 to January 2015. The parameters evaluated were: number of days to flowering, plant height at flowering, cycle, plant height at maturity, height insertion of the first inflorescence, plant population, productivity, saponin and moisture content. Plant height at flowering ranged from 0.75 to 1.09 m, and 0.80 to 0.91m in the experiments, respectively. In the first experiment the...

CHEMICAL PROPERTIES AND PHYSICAL FRACTIONS OF ORGANIC MATTER IN OXISOLS UNDER INTEGRATED AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION SYSTEMS 196
de Moraes Rego, Carlos Augusto Rocha; Oliveira, Paulo Sérgio Rabello de; Piano, Jeferson Tiago; Egewarth, Jonas Francisco; Egewarth, Vanessa Aline; López de Herrera, Juan; Gonçalves Junior, Affonso Celso.
The main cause of decreased soil fertility and soil organic matter content is intensive crop farming with inadequate management. This study aimed to evaluate soil chemical properties, total organic carbon content, physical granulometric fractions (particulate organic carbon and mineral-associated organic carbon), carbon stocks, and carbon management indices of oxisols in different integrated agricultural production systems (IAPSs) with reference to values in a haymaking area and native forest. The experiments were performed using completely randomized design, considering nine differently managed areas, including seven IAPSs and two reference areas (haymaking area and native forest); four soil samples from the 0.00-0.05, 0.05-0.10, and 0.10-0.20 m layers...

Genetic parameters and productivity of quinoa in western Paraná Agronomy
Vasconcelos, Edmar Soares de; Hoepers, Lívia Maria Lemos; Amaral, Rafaela Goularte; Egewarth, Vanessa Aline; Strenske, Andressa.
Quinoa has been gaining attention because of its nutritional quality, low cholesterol and lack of gluten; in Brazil, the cultivation efforts in the different regions are mainly related to breeding. This study aimed to determine the genetic parameters and evaluate the productivity of the different genotypes of quinoa for detecting genotypes amenable to selection. The experiment was conducted in crop years 2010/11 and 2011/12 in environment 1 and environment 2, respectively. In environment 1, the evaluation of 61 genotypes was performed, and in environment 2, 31 genotypes were evaluated. The experimental design was a randomized block with two replications; each plot measured 2.0 x 5.0 m (10 m²) and consisted of four rows spaced at 0.45 m. Data collected on...

Pathology of Ocimum basilicum seeds Sci. Agrar.Paran. / SAP
Franciscon, Hugo; Stangarlin, José Renato; Yassue, Rafael Massahiro; Achre, Diandra; Egewarth, Vanessa Aline; Cruz, Marta Inês Ferreira da.
The basil, Ocimum basilicum, is a shrubby plant used for medicinal and culinary purposes because of its antibiotic properties and aroma. The basil consumption has increased due to demand for healthier foods and interest in Mediterranean cuisine, in order to increase the demand and consequently the production. With its intensive cultivation, has increased the incidence and severity of disease in culture, in particular fungal diseases. One of this disease is anthracnose, caused by the pathogen Colletotrichum gloeosporioides L., that affects the aerial part of the plant and has caused major economic damage to the crop. Aiming to assess the importance of seeds as a source of inoculum of anthracnose in the culture of basil were made test of seed pathology in...

Responses of quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) seeds stored under different germination temperatures Agronomy
Strenske, Andressa; Vasconcelos, Edmar Soares de; Egewarth, Vanessa Aline; Herzog, Neusa Francisca Michelon; Malavasi, Marlene de Matos.
In this experiment, we assessed the germination and vigor of quinoa seeds packed in paper bags and stored at room temperature for 36, 85, 119, 146, 177 and 270 days. The seeds were harvested under experimental conditions in Marechal Candido Rondon, Paraná, during the 2012/13 growing seasons. Four replicates of 100 seeds each were established for each storage time, and the seeds were evaluated, on paper, based on the BOD under the following experimental temperature conditions: alternating temperatures of 20 and 30°C and a constant temperature of 25°C. The seeds from both treatments were subject to seven-hour photoperiods and 25°C under continuous darkness. The germinated seeds were counted daily for eight days after sowing, and we evaluated the percentages...
